The centre forward and team captain of Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) Bamenda, was named best player in League 1 for the month of July by the National Union of Cameroonian Footballers (Synafoc). Kongnyuy received his award in Yaounde during his team’s day 30 encounter against Canon of Yaounde. Although the encounter ended in a goalless draw, YOSA how ever returned to the grassland with something to smile at after their captain was honoured. Speaking to Camfoot after the award, Kongnyuy expressed his joy for haven won the award and also promises to work harder. “I am very satisfied because it was not at all easy. For that, I worked a lot. I must not shrug my shoulders because I was appointed, I have to keep working to be the top scorer, “he said. Weah as he is fondly called, currently shares the highest number of goals in League One with Tobias Ebah of New Stars who also has eleven goals. His ability to manipulate the ball, pace, good game lecture and his strength in the air are some of the qualities that have made the YOSA talisman unique. He was able to beat Patrick Hugo Nyame of Botafogo of Douala and Julien Ebah Tobias, the attacker of New Stars of Douala to win the award. Kongnyuy received the sum of FCFA 150.000 as reward. In League Two, the distinction of “player of July” returned to Leopold Clovis Tsinguia, player of the Eding Sport of Lekié, who received the sum of FCFA 100 000. At age 26, Jude Kongnyuy has played with Union of Douala, Fovu of Baham. He has also had short spells in Syria and Algeria. At the international level, he has played with the Junior and Olympic National teams of Cameroon.
