Yong Sports Academy Bamenda - YOSA ...

December 22, 2013
Yong Sport Academy has beaten Canon Sportif of Yaounde to win its first major trophy after just its first attempt. YOSA emerged 4-1 winners after post match penalty kicks following a virgin 90 minutes of play this afternoon at the Yaounde Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium. Canon was seeking its 12th cup of Cameroon trophy but had its chances reduced in the second half when they had a defender sent off at the 51st minute. Yong Sport Academy becomes only the second team from the North West Region to have won the Cup after Kumbo Strikers in 2000, and only the third team west of the Mungo, following the success of Mount Cameroon of Buea in 2002. The 54th finals of the Cup of Cameroon was watched by the head of State Paul Biya and his entire cabinet, the presidents of the Senate and national Assembly and over 35 000 fans. Created barely 9 years ago, YOSA ascended into the MTN Elite Two Division in 2008 and a season later into the Elite one. The team’s main objective has been to win the Cup of Cameroon.
