Yong Sports Academy YOSA of Bamenda has finished Third on the Classification table of the professional league One for the 2016 football season. YOSA occupied the position after beating Canon of Yaounde 1-3 in Yaoundé this Sunday 11, 2016.

The three goals came from deputy team captain Awono Junior and Nkwenti Festus “Tshabalala” scoring twice.

It is the first time the team is finishing third since their ascension to the elite league since 2009. The position also guarantees them a second CAF Cup participation Ticket after that of 2014 that came with lots of difficulty as the club lost its founding president that period.

The team played their day 34 game and last for the season without their Captain Jude Kongnyuy who reports say has traveled out of the Country for a football deal.

Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso has so far remained the coach with the best results for the team. After winning the Cup of Cameroon in 2013, he left and only returned this year and has given YOSA another continental ticket and prestigious third place.

After a brilliant 0-0 tie with Astre of Douala in Loum, UMS finished top of the league table with a record 70pts. Cotonsport gave Racing of Bafoussam 5-0 thrashing in Garoua to finish with 60pts on the second place while Bamenda’s YOSA thanks to their 1-3 win over Canon finished on spot number three with a record 59pts. Union of Douala who was a major rival to YOSA beat Lion Blesse 1-0 in Douala but that was not enough to go pass their rivals as they finished fourth place with 56pts.

Panthere du Nde confirmed their leadership of the relegation group with a 1-1 draw with Eding finishing on spot number 16 with 35 points followed by last day losers Botafogo FC and Cosmos of Bafia with 33 and 18 points respectively.

About Match

YOSA of Bamenda has beaten Les Astre of Douala 3-1 to maintain their second position on the league table of the Professional League One. The game was one of the five Day 21 matches programmed in play grounds across Cameroon.

Uncommon as the décor was, so too was the quality and caliber of spectators. It was the first time the President of the Cameroon Professional Football League LFPC was attending a football match in his function as league president. General Piere Semengue who was accompanied by several league officials and collaborators also brought to the Ngenefor play playground for the first time the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam  Songa Pierre.

Les Astre manager A.C Mbongo accepted defeat noting that his team is currently facing some challenges. According to him YOSA merited their win.

While praising his team and fans for a job well-done, YOSA manager Ndoumbe Bosso noted that his team made maximum use of the opportunities they had. He however congratulated les Astre for putting up a strong contest against his team. For his next outing against Aigle of Dschang, Ndoumbe said he “will be going to win and not to be beaten.

After grabbing the three points, YOSA now totals 38pts thus maintaining its second place following Union's goalless draw in Bagante against local side Panthere du Nde. The results of the three delayed matches to be played on Wednesday June 14, 2016 will have no impact on the position of YOSA.
